RED VESPAS

 -When I turned 60 I went looking for a new adventure.  I decided I needed a Vespa.  For those of you who are not familiar with scooters, the Vespa is the most popular in the world.  It began production in 1946 after the Piaggo factory in Italy was no longer allowed to build airplanes.  It was designed to be, and was, the main transportation for post war Italy.  It was designed so that any one could ride and the step through design was to accommodate women's skirts and Priests robes. I searched the want ad's for several weeks and on December 23, 2007 I found exactly what I was looking for and bought myself a Christmas present.  A red Vespa LX150 with only 500 miles,"Scoot".
In the spring of 2008, I decided to go for a little ride through the back woods of the south. I left my home in St. Petersburg, Fl and spent 7 days wandering up to Raleigh, N.C.  I was immediately hooked and have  wandered around the U.S ever since, meeting wonderful people and seeing a great country.
I since acquired another red Vespa, a 250 GTS, named "Big Red".
